'Knights Corner' Intel supercomputer co-processor

 Knight corner Intel supercomputer co-processor
This is new 'Knights Corner' Intel supercomputer co-processor. HotChips is the show where chip makers come to show off their latest slices of silicon, and Knights Corner architect George Chrysos spilled the beans on Santa Clara's Xeon Phi co-processor. The unit's designed to bolt onto Xeon chips to help supercomputers crunch the numbers faster, by handling the "highly parallel" grunt work necessary for genetic and climate modeling, among other things. Chrysos has lofty goals for the hardware, hoping that it'll contribute to "scientific and technical progress," while we're just excited to see if it can help the company reclaim its Top 500 crown from IBM.

Judge cuts international Galaxy S and S II, Galaxy Ace from Apple lawsuit against Samsung

Judge cuts international Galaxy S and S II, Galaxy Ace from Apple lawsuit against Samsung

Apple rested its side of the case in its main lawsuit against Samsung on Monday, and with the switch of focus came a small sacrifice. While Samsung failed in a Hail Mary bid to have the suit dismissed, it successfully argued that a few devices should escape the clutches of a full-fledged ban. Don't get too excited, though: the exclusion list mostly touches on phones that only reach US shores through unofficial importers, including the Galaxy Ace as well as international editions of the Galaxy S and Galaxy S II. The decision still leaves the American variants of phones under scrutiny, and it doesn't change Apple's hopes of a large licensing fee for all the alleged transgressions. We'd still say the exemption provides some small amount of relief for Samsung, however. Most of Apple's early, less-than-flattering accusations of trade dress violations focused on the more familiar-looking foreign Galaxy models and lose some of their thunder when leveled against the conspicuously altered designs that eventually set foot in the US.

Tips How to Tell Good People from Bad People

Tips How to Tell Good People from Bad People
Got this pamphlet when I was a first or second grader living in Golden, Colorado. I can't remember if my school passed out copies, or if it came in the mail.

The page scans at Budget Raygun are low-res, but it looks like the pamphlet was published in 1964 by the International Order of the Golden Rule, an organization for "independent, family owned funeral homes that span the globe."

The advice in the book is good, but even as a callow youth I thought there was something bogus about the illustrations of "good people" vs "bad people." I couldn't find much difference between Mr. Good and Mr. Bad, and I found myself more attracted to the bad lady than the good one.just look at the pamphlet

NASA's Curiosity rover receives long-distance OTA update

NASA's Curiosity rover receives long-distance OTA update

Think it's nifty when your carrier deigns to provide your smartphone with that long awaited OTA update? That's nothing. Over the weekend, NASA's Curiosity rover will be receiving its first long-distance OTA update -- all the way out there on Mars. The goal is to transition both redundant main computers from software suited for landing the vehicle to software optimized for surface exploration -- such as driving, obstacle avoidance and using the robotic arm. NASA calls it a "brain transplant" and points out that the software was actually uploaded during the flight from Earth. Now can someone please enable OTA downloads for the human brain? We'd really like to know kung fu. PR after the break.

NASA Curiosity Mars Rover Installing Smarts for Driving

PASADENA, Calif. -- NASA's Mars rover Curiosity will spend its first weekend on Mars transitioning to software better suited for tasks ahead, such as driving and using its strong robotic arm.
The rover's "brain transplant," which will occur during a series of steps Aug. 10 through Aug. 13, will install a new version of software on both of the rover's redundant main computers. This software for Mars surface operations was uploaded to the rover's memory during the Mars Science Laboratory spacecraft's flight from Earth.
"We designed the mission from the start to be able to upgrade the software as needed for different phases of the mission," said Ben Cichy of NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif., chief

Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 Student Edition Best Buy

Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 Student Edition Best Buy
it cost $250 for student package. We'd originally been tipped that Samsung's Galaxy Tab 7 2.0 Student Edition, a $250 bundle which comes with a keyboard dock and USB connector for peripherals, would officially hit Best Buy's shelves around August 19th, but asking nicely might score you one now. According to an email from tipster, Jason (who's also posted details over at Phandroid's forums), the unit was locked inside one of the store's cages and simply asking for a price check let him proceed to checkout with nary an issue (see the photo). Despite only having 8GB of storage, a dual-core 1GHz processor and the same 1024 x 600 screen resolution of its predecessors, the slate is a solid performer -- but unless you're hell-bent on having extras like a rear camera, we'd be remiss not to mention that the Jelly Bean- and Tegra 3-loaded 8GB Nexus 7 clocks in at $200 by its lonesome. That said, it may be worth trying your luck at your local Best Buy if you're not so concerned with top-tier specs and okay with Samsung's variety of ICS. Original Mac Ad from 1983 Aired now.Never Aired for 29 Year

Original Mac Ad from 1983 Aired now.Never Aired for 29 Year
you may be surprised with this ads which never aired for 29 year . and now its on youtube
Here's one for anybody feeling nostalgic this weekend. An unaired commercial for Apple's original Macintosh from way back in 1983 has landed on YouTube courtesy of Andy Hertzfeld, currently a Google software engineer who co-created the Mac nearly three decades ago.

The ad features snippets of interviews from the design team talking up the Mac and why they built it. According to Hertzfeld, the reason it never aired is because "Apple deemed it too self-congratulatory" (yes, we spewed coffee all over our monitor and keyboard as well). The ad was, however, sent to some dealers as part of a promotional package.

One interesting tidbit that stands out from the ad is a Nostradamus-like prediction from Mike Murray, then the Marketing Manager for the Macintosh, who stated, "I think what you're going to see is that the balance of power is going to shift, the balance of power from companies running people to hopefully people running companies." That's something we're starting to see in this age of the Internet, and though it's not necessarily due to the Mac platform or Apple in general, it's an interesting forecast that somewhat accurately predicts where technology has taken us.

Apple Losing Its ‘Cool’Now ?

Apple Losing Its ‘Cool’Now ?
From the survey founds interesting graphic as shown below.
There was a time not too long ago when the perception amongst many young computer users that only old people, stiffs, rubes, and nerds owned non-Apple products; the iPod trumped the Zune, MacBooks became something of a cool-kid status symbol, and the iPhone was--well, no other phone would do.

At some point along the way that’s changed, at least according to a survey from YouGov. Its BrandIndex survey indicates that Apple’s popular perception among the 18-34 demographic has dipped somewhat--actually, it’s been sliding fairly steadily downward--since 2008. Right around September 2011, however, positivity towards the Cupertino company rose among users aged 35 years+, for the first time at a rate above that of the younger group.

Leaked iPhone 5 Battery to the Web, Reveal Incremental Bump in Capacity

Leaked iPhone 5 Battery to the Web, Reveal Incremental Bump in Capacity

From this site you can get info about new leaked battery for iphone 5.Part by part, pieces and photos of Apple's upcoming iPhone 5 model keep leaking to the Web, and the latest pre-release glimpse is supposedly that of the battery pack that will power the device. The new battery is said to feature a slight bump in capacity to 1440 mAh, up from 1430 mAh in the iPhone 4S and 1420 mAh in the iPhone 4.

The battery also sports a slightly higher voltage at 3.8V compared to 3.7V in both previous iPhone devices (4S and 4), along with an increased watts-per-hour (wHr) measurement. The new battery for the iPhone 5 is rated at 5.45 wHr, whereas the one in the iPhone 4S is rated at 5.25 wHr and the one in the iPhone 4 at 5.25 wHr.

It will be interesting to see how battery life plays out in real-world usage scenarios. If the rumors and speculation are true, the iPhone 5 will boast a bigger size touchscreen than any previous iPhone model, along with 4G LTE support. Both of these will drain battery life faster than ever before, though depending on what other tweaks and hardware end up in the iPhone 5, Apple could offset the increased power requirements in other ways.good news

Sony LT25i Tsubasa High BenchMark high-speed Xperia ranks

Sony LT25i Tsubasa High BenchMark high-speed Xperia ranks

Great Benchmaroks for Sony LT25i Tsubasa . by Add another future Sony Xperia model to a rapidly growing pool. The LT25i Tsubasa (not to be confused with the ST25i/Xperia U) has been caught by Tencent in AnTuTu and NenaMark2 tests, seemingly running the same mix of a 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4, a 720p screen and Android 4.0 that we've seen in the upcoming Xperia T (LT30p). So what's different? There's rumors of in-cell touch to keep the display thin and vivid, but even the unverified source isn't certain that it will become a reality. The crew at Xperia Blog also claims that there will be international LTE and HSPA+ models along with China- and Japan-specific editions. Assuming the details are at all consistent with the truth, having the Tsubasa arrive on the scene mostly hints that Sony might be readying a broader speed-up of its roster than we first thought.

Telkom-3 satellite has been found!

Telkom-3 satellite which was lost is now known to exist. The satellite was launched from Baikonur Cosmodrome, Kazakhstan, it was hovering at a maximum altitude of 5014 km, is still far from an altitude of 36,000 km orbit.

But unfortunately, despite the known existence, satellite orbit drift away from it most likely was not going to be used again. Thus the explanation received from the ISS Reshetnev Telkom by preliminary calculation, Thursday (09/08/2012).

"With regard to the preliminary calculation of the ISS Reshetnev then Telkom also establish contingency measures related to Telkom-3," said Head of Corporate Communication and Affairs Telkom, Slamet Riyadi.

Before the preliminary results of calculation is accepted, the company had taken measures for the handling of emergency and urgency to ensure customer service and telecommunications operations. According to Slamet, telecommunications services will not be disturbed because of Telkom's operating and using multiple satellites.

"In addition, from the financial side, the incidence of anomalies Telkom-3 satellite launch would not be a significant impact, because it has been insured in full," he said.

Slamet emphasized that contingency plans are standard operating procedure in Telkom, is no exception to the satellite transponder. For satellite Telkom-3 contingency measures have been done before the satellite was launched.

"To meet the needs of customers who have signed up and we anticipate demand to lease satellite coverage approximately equal to the Telkom-3 satellite," he explained.

"Telkom will always provide the best service to customers and prospective customers, in addition to that we always maintain the sustainability of business growth," said Slamet.

Telkom-3 satellite was reported missing earlier because of the rocket pengorbitnya (upper stage) Breeze-M does not work perfectly in spite of the Proton-M rocket booster to function properly. Satellites are worth Rp 1.8 trillion was estimated to Lapan's space agency, will fall to Earth in more than 16 years.
